DESCRIPTION
This 12-hour introductory course teaches the Foundations and Applications of HANDLE through the lens of the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants will follow the process through which Judith went to develop her theories on Autism and begin to see behaviors as communication with new “HANDLE eyes”. Students will learn unique HANDLE activities and will explore how the activities can be applied and adapted to support individuals with a wide range of sensitivities and challenges.
HANDLE® was developed by Judith Bluestone, an award-winning educator and pioneer in applied neuroscience. It offers a new paradigm that sees behaviors as communication, which provides a unique perspective for gaining insights and increasing compassionate understanding. Founded on an interactive, developmental model of human functioning, HANDLE directly addresses underlying neurodevelopmental irregularities, rather than simply providing short-term solutions.
HANDLE draws upon knowledge from many different disciplines and provides families, caregivers, educators and therapists a gentle, effective, holistic and non-drug solution to challenging conditions and perplexing situations.
HANDLE has helped families across the nation and around the world to achieve significant results with walking, talking, writing, attending and memory. HANDLE supports individuals of all ages with both lifelong and acquired challenges.
